Time and Place

The seminar will take place on

  • Wednesday, 13:30–15:20 (EF), Engineering Building IV, Room 219 (ED219)

Regulations

  • At every seminar, the students need to sign an attendance list. We consider this signature a legal act of declaring somebody's presence. Signing for somebody else is not only cheating us, but considered faking a document and therefore illegal and a criminal act according to Taiwanese law.
  • The requirements for passing this class is the attendance of 12 out of 14 seminars.
  • The students do not need to hand in a report after the seminar. However, for some seminars we will distribute by email certain documents in advance. These documents should be read before the seminar in order to be prepared for the presentation. It is expected that all students do read this material and turn up at the seminar ready for the speech. You should realize that the speakers spend considerable time and effort for you, so it is just common politeness to invest a couple of minutes for them.
  • The default passing grade is 85. For only 11 attended seminars the failing grade is 65, for only 10 attended seminars the grade is 60, for only 9 attended seminars the grade is 55, and for 8 or less attended seminars the failing grade is 50.
  • The grade can be improved by attending more than the required 12 seminars and by active participation at the seminars, e.g., by asking questions.
